Barton Science Centre

Tonbridge School’s state-of-the-art Barton Science Centre, which opened for teaching in January 2019, puts science and technology at the very heart of the school. Named after British organic chemist Sir Derek Barton, an Old Tonbridgian who won the Nobel Prize in 1969, the centre places Tonbridge at the cutting edge of school science.

The Departments of Chemistry, Biology and Physics now enjoy their own departmental libraries. Working with a modest budget, we designed environmental graphics celebrating the work of world-renowned scientists for each of the libraries, with the aim of informing and inspiring schoolchildren for years to come. Additionally, we designed a small number of signs to aid navigation of the three-storey centre.
